May Update

The last month of the school year flew by! We had big crowds of kids each week – we’re averaging almost 110 total kids each week  – and we enjoyed beautiful weather. The kids are definitely ready for Summer Vacation (and our weekly dose of water balloons)!

The kids Cathy’s Pointe made special Mother’s Day cards. With nearly 30 rowdy kids each week (and over half with limited English), projects like this are a huge undertaking. Paige is definitely thankful for her volunteers!
No matter the apartment complex, no matter the ages or genders of the kids, a game of “Jump the River” is always the game of choice. Cypress Creek is no exception.
All it takes is some chalk and a bouncy ball to keep the Spring Terrace kids entertained with a game of 4 square. (And you can bet they asked to play “Jump the River” as soon is this game was over).
Lia is meeting new kids at Plum Creek each week, as there’s been some turnover there this Spring. She also needs some more volunteers. If you can help on Tuesday afternoons, let us know!
The Glenwood crew is lots of fun. We bring snacks every week. Their new favorite? Cutie oranges. They’ve learned that sometimes healthy snacks actually taste great.
The North Grand Villas is our most diverse complex. We have kids from all different ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. And they all love a game of “Sharks and Minnows” almost as much as “Jump the River.”
We launched our weekly ministry at Cantibury Pointe in Lubbock this month. It’s moving along slowly, and Nate is working hard to meet kids and parents to get them involved in our fun. We can’t wait to see how things grow this summer.
